Bow Hunting: Precisely Why Folks Are so Addicted With It

By George Dodson

Hunters are rather peculiar people. They wake up in the morning at a very early time and they're able to stay on guard for a long time in the look out for their prey or trophy. In order for them to keep track of their prey, they often camp in the wilderness or on the area where the animal can be hunted. You'll find them in the local sporting goods store looking over the latest gun or other apparatus for hunting. These people commonly visit stores to see rifles. Other times it's a bow. So why do people prefer bows when hunting?

When you hunting with a rifle, the range is 100 yards or better. Often times you have a scope which means at that range, if done properly, you're going to hit what you shoot at. Using a bow for hunting however is a different story.

A bow can not fire arrows as fast as a rifle to its bullet. The arrows are designed with a steel or metal head that are pointed to easily pierce the thick body of any animal. It takes great skill to bring down game with this weapon. A bow can definitely fire at a farther range than a gun. A bow along with its other classifications will always be affected by the force of gravity. If an arrow is fired with very less force or push, it can cover a very short distance. The greater the distance, the more it is going to drop. For this reason, hunting with a bow takes more skill and adventure.

Those who hunt with a bow like the challenge. Using bow in hunting will need the hunter to cover a short distance from their prey or target. This means that the game is more likely to hear them or smell them. Hunting with a bow will provide a great deal of challenge since the animal can hear and smell the hunter as they approach. Thus, it will be more challenging if the animal can smell and hear the hunter if he or she gets too close to the target. You will be required to move often towards your target if you choose to use bow for hunting. If the game is deer, deer are very sensitive to motion and smell. They are however colorblind. As soon as they detect or smell any danger or foreign smell, they immediately make a run for it.

In addition to the above, bow hunting requires a greater skill. Depending on the instrument you're using, you must use it correctly to ensure accurate shots. You must be able to select the correct arrows and tips, and know the differences between the kinds of bows available. Use of this hunting weapon is only for those who have the skills for it and for those who are looking for a challenging game. Of course, use of bows will also require a great deal of time when hunting since you need to move slowly towards your target. So, you need to prepare yourself for a long stay in the wilderness. Among those that you need to prepare when staying longer in the wild are the right camping as well as hunting gears.

As you can see, those who hunt with a bow like the adventure, like the aspect of needing more skill in selecting the equipment and the means of getting close enough to their game for the kill. If you like adventures then bow hunting would be a better choice for you.
