James Malinchak's Fire Yourself And Hire Yourself As An Employee

By Rubin Price

You're going to find this hard to believe. It is tough for me to market my business. I mean you all see the internet sites and all that other swag. I mean you see the posters with pictures and all that things. It's difficult for me to do that. In terms of getting all of that done, I cannot do that for myself. Believe or not, I could not get it done, and I could not understand why years ago. I even employed some other people to write my stuff for me, and it was not as good as I knew I can do, but I could not get it out fast enough. I did not think I had a choice.

Then one day it struck me. Then, in that moment, I realized I should not be writing it for myself. I realized that it wasn't about me as a person, but the writing was for me as a client. Therefore, I, metaphorically, jumped out of my body, and I'm writing now for my customer, James Malinchak. Everyone catching that information for yourself? It is a heck of a lot easier to write and make stuff for yourself when you're not doing it for yourself! I know it seems ridiculous when you look at it, yet when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. You are doing it for your client who happens to be named your name.

When you start doing this for the client in you, then it becomes easier. Because like it or not, we are harder on ourselves when it is NOT about us. If it is for us, then we make up excuses or put things off. We say things like it will wait until tomorrow, or it is not that important. Yet, if we were being fired or if our job was on the line, we would work hard to make sure our job was complete.

I jokingly, but seriously, tell people to fire themselves and hire the marketer, or the writer, or the speech writer in you! When you think about it that way, it makes more sense to you and you become more efficient. Realistically, you are your own worst enemy when it comes to getting things done and getting things done fast! That is why this is so critical to me. This is exactly why I always tell everyone to "Get Stuff Done Fast!"

If you're working for somebody else, you're not emotionally attached to it. You're focused on doing a good job, efficiently and quickly. You would like to be able to go home at the end of the day. When it's about you, you'll dwell on the tiniest unimportant factor and slow down your whole progress based on something unimportant. You need to let that stuff go. Your employee wouldn't care as much. Your employee would want to do well, but wouldn't lose sleep over it. Therefore, fire yourself and hire the employee in you!
