Why You Should Consider Fifth Wheel Trailers

By Estela Bolton

Fifth wheel trailers are named as such because of the way they are attached to the vehicle towing them. The camper is attached to the towing vehicle by a fifth wheel hitch. The hitch is connected to the back of the vehicle, near the license plate, and runs to the camper. This gives the appearance of the camper being suspended on the towing vehicle. Full sized trucks are most commonly use for this towing purpose.

When it comes to RV's there are so many options you can choose from. Sizes can range from the very small to the very large. Some are very basic and only provide things that would be essential during a trip. Others are packed with various options like you would have if you were home. Some examples include a full size kitchen, large screen television, a full size washer and dryer set and full size beds. It's amazing what things you will find inside some models.

Some choices are the very basic of models and are typically constructed with less luxurious materials. Basic models don't waste space with extra upgrades. They provide everything you would need to camp, but remain small because they contain no extras.

Some Trailers come with many different upgrades and amenities. They are the more luxurious of options among RVs and can be reminiscent of an actual home on the inside. They are spacious, include hardwood cabinets, high end carpeting and even full size appliances. They aren't much different than living at home in essence.

The biggest campers can be upgrade with up to four individual slide out expansions to increase interior space upon set up. This is usually the maximum number of slide out expansions that is allowable, but it does increase space enough that size is comparable to a small house that has been completely furnished. This is why so many consider them a home away from home.

Your own family size will determine the size of the camper you will want. Big families would not be able to travel well in a small option. Small families only need so much space, so the bigger options would be too much. You should aim for enough room for everyone to be comfortable but not so much that you are staying away from each other during trips.

Budget will be another factor behind your decision of what to buy. With such a wide range of choices, a suitable option for anyone should be available. Aspiring RV owners usually know exactly what they are looking for. They have a good idea of how much space they want and what extras they want included.

Fifth wheel trailers are a great investment. They open many new opportunities for family vacation and are cheaper than paying nightly rates at a hotel, while on vacation. A family can still feel like they are right at home, even when they are hundreds of miles away. They are great for extended camping stays and provide much better shelter from poor weather conditions, compared to using tents. They also provide the advantage of being able to feed the family home cooked meals every day rather than the limited fair that can be cooked on an open campfire.
