Don't Neglect The Security Of Your Business

By Mark Mahaffey

Being a business owner brings with it many responsibilities. You have customer service issues to attend to, new workers to hire, advertising strategies to write, merchandise to oversee and of course janitorial duties to take care of. With all these responsibilities, it may be tempting to let the issue of security fade into the background.

But neglecting the security of your business is not a good idea. You could have a security breach that is so massive that it ruins you and your business may never recover. Now is the time to take care of your business security issues. And it is important to be aware of the fact that security breaches do not always come in the form of people from the outside breaking in; sometimes the worst security breaches come from your own workers.

For this reason, the security of your business should be a priority. If you do not already have electronic security access installed in your business, you should do so immediately. This type of technology is a great way to restrict access to certain parts of your building only to those people who have been provided with a key card that the computer recognizes.

Another way to increase the security of your business is with silent alarms. These differ from traditional alarms in that the alarm is only heard by those people who are monitoring your security system. The offender does not even know that he has tripped an alarm! The police can be on their way and he will not even realize that his presence has been noticed.

There are likely several locations within your building that a silent alarm would be perfect. Do you have offices which only high level employees are allowed into? Just put a silent alarm on the doors of those offices. If someone tries to enter, the alarm will be tripped and you will be able to catch them.

And of course any display cases that house expensive merchandise are also prime candidates for silent alarms. Whether it is a burglar, a customer or a dishonest employee who is trying to break into display cases, by installing silent alarms on them, you can increase the security!
